Commemoration of Mahmoud Darwich: Poet of exile, resistance and peace
Share
On August 9th, we commemorate the passing of Mahmoud Darwish , a Palestinian poet, is inducted into the United Souls pantheon. Darwish, whose words have inspired generations, is a symbol of exile, resistance, and the quest for peace. His poems still resonate today, reminding us of the importance of memory and the struggle for justice.
Among his many quotes, we particularly remember these:
"We suffer from an incurable disease called hope."
"We will be one people if we want to be."
Darwish's words embody the indomitable spirit of the Palestinian people and their aspiration for a free and dignified existence.
In these dark times, we cannot ignore the suffering of the Palestinian people, who are undergoing a "genocide" perpetrated by Benjamin Netanyahu's "apartheid" regime and his warmongering accomplices within the international community. This same world, which is focused on the Olympic Games, seems to forget the pain and agony of a nation. It is crucial to remember that the Palestinian people, oppressed today, are in no way responsible for the past atrocities committed against the Jewish people in the West.
In this spirit of solidarity, we are proud to present the artist's poetic drawing Marie-Claire Laffaire , which honors Mahmoud Darwich accompanied by the quote: "We will be a people if we want to be."
Mahmoud Darwish rests in peace, but his legacy lives on. Like millions of citizens around the world, United Souls supports the Palestinian people despite threats from corrupt governments and intimidation attempts by powerful Zionist lobbies.
We will stand with Palestine every day.
