Tribute to Amílcar Cabral – A Centenary in the Pantheon of United Souls
September 12, 2024, marks a significant moment: the 100th anniversary of the birth of Amílcar Cabral, a central figure in the anti-colonial struggle in Africa. Through his legacy, Cabral embodies a powerful cultural resistance, an ideal that resonates deeply with the philosophy of United Souls.
An agronomist, founder of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), and a revolutionary visionary, Cabral established himself as a moral and intellectual leader. His ideas, shared at the Tricontinental Conference in Havana in 1966, continue to inspire the fight for justice and dignity. His commitment to creating African unity in resistance against colonialism and his call for African elites to engage in a "class suicide" to support the people remain references for liberation movements.
On this occasion, United Souls highlights one of the first creations from our collection, designed by the artist Joy Hanoun, in tribute to Amílcar Cabral. This piece, which is integral to our vision, celebrates the strength of the struggle and the duty of remembrance. Wearing this creation today is a reaffirmation of pride and recognition for those who have marked history with courage and integrity.
Join us in celebrating this tribute to Cabral by wearing this piece from our United Souls collection, and share with us this spirit of resistance. Together, we perpetuate his fight for a more just future.
